MONA divides nursing practice issues into two basic areas of discussion:
- General Practice Issues: issues and concerns related to the universal performance of nursing including, but not limited to, nursing standards of practice, position statements, legal and ethical standards of professional nursing practice
- Advanced Practice Issues: issues and concerns related to the specific practice of Advanced Practice Nurses. Advanced Practice Nursing is an umbrella term given to those Registered Nurses (RNs) who have met advanced educational and clinical practice requirements beyond the basic nursing education required of all RN including Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
