Collective Bargaining -- How To Organize
It starts with you!
If you want a voice in the decisions that affect your professional practice and the quality of care you provide, then you need to be at the table where these decisions are made. This is difficult to do as an individual nurse, but nurses can have a seat at the table through collective bargaining.
As a health care professional, you have the right to organize, select a bargaining representative, and bargain collectively with your employer.
However, organizing is a process that takes time and expertise. That is what Missouri Nurses Association can offer you.
MONA will provide the field organizers and other resources to help launch an effective campaign to organize nurses and will provide support and guidance throughout the process. When a group organizes for collective bargaining and selects MONA as the bargaining agent, we:
- Negotiate a contract, which defines the terms and conditions of employment, acceptable to you as a professional.
- Enforce the contract through grievance and arbitration procedures.
- Assure shared governance in your facility’s decision-making process.
- Protect and promote professionalism through collective action.
MONA is here to help you make the most of your collective bargaining opportunity. If you and your colleagues need the security and benefits of collective bargaining, please contact the Missouri Nurses Association. All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential.
