Q: How do I contact the Missouri State Board of Nursing?
A: The Missouri State Board of Nursing can be reached at 573-751-0681 or email.
Q: How do I renew my nursing license?
A: To renew your nursing license you need to contact the Missouri State Board of Nursing. They are the licensing agency for registered nurses in the State of Missouri.
Q: How can I find out how many nursing contact hours I need to maintain by certification?
A: You need to contact the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The ANCC can be reached at 202-651-7000 or on the web at www.nursecredentialing.org.
Q: How many hours can a nurse work in a 24-hour period?
A: We frequently receive calls from nurses asking is there a limit to the number of hours a nurse can work. Unfortunately, there are no limits prescribed by state or federal law. The hospital licensure regulations in Missouri describe that a nurse mandated to work or who volunteered to work "more than 12 hours shall be provided the option to have at least 10 consecutive hours of uninterrupted off-duty time immediately following worked time". Otherwise there is no law restricting the number of hours a nurse can work in 24 hours.
