Patient Safety Priorities
Missouri Nurses Association has been accepted to participate in the statewide collaborative to "Establish a Just Culture for Patient Safety between Healthcare Providers and Regulators." The collaborative is a project of the Missouri Center for Patient Safety made possible through a grant from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
MONA participated in a one day training session on December 18, 2007 in Columbia, MO. This training included an in-depth presentation of Just Culture principles, including use of the Just Culture algorithm and provided us with information about available resources to help agencies toward supporting a Just Culture environment in Missouri. The regional training sessions are anticipated to be held in late winter/early spring of 2008 with locations in St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia, and Springfield.
The goal of this project is to establish a more consistent understanding and management of human error, at-risk behavior and reckless behavior between Missouri healthcare providers and regulators. Should you want additional information on this project visit www.mocps.org and follow the links for Missouri Just Culture Collaborative.
Thank you for your continued support of MONA, your professional association --The Voice of Nursing in Missouri.
