MONA Installs New Board Members

MONA members attending the Invest in Your Future Meeting
The Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), held their Biennial Delegate Assembly in Columbia, MO, on November 10, 2007. During this meeting, recently elected board members were installed. The following executive officers elected were:
- Marcia Flesner, PhD, RN — MONA President, Columbia;
- Mary Berhorst, BSN, RN, BC, CMSN — Vice-President, Linn;
- Corinne Fessenden, PhD, RN — Secretary, Palmyra;
- Mary Chaston, RN, MSN — Treasurer, Kearney.
The following state directors also installed were:
- Jan Polizzi, RN, MS, St. Louis;
- James Orf, RN, St. Peters;
- Sharon Kleinsorge, RN, Bonne Terre;
- Jennifer Gwin, RN, MSN, CS-FNP, Jackson;
- Ruth Hall, RN, BSN, West Plains; and
- Jan Kaminsky, RN, O’Fallon.
In addition to board elections, the following members were elected to the MONA Nominating Committee:
- Cordelia Esry, PhD, RN, Hamilton;
- Bettie Lasley, RNC, Carrollton;
- Nancy Barr, MSN, RN, Kansas City;
- Jane Moore, APRN, BC, FNP, Rolla;
- Grace Poertner, PhD, RNC, St. Charles;
- Amber Redburn, BSN, RN, West Plains; and
- Linda Brown, APRN, Jackson.
Two Missouri registered nurses were installed into the MONA Nursing Hall of Fame.
Glen Jett, MONA president, presents Belinda Heimericks with a plaque and gift in honor of her being named to the Missouri Nurses Association Hall of Fame.
- Belinda Heimericks, MS(N), RN, Tebbetts, MO, was nominated by Nancy Barr. Heimericks served as the MONA Executive Director for 15 years. She was an active director who participated in many legislative firsts in Missouri such as the APRN legislation.
- Sharon Rohrbach, RN, St. Louis, MO, was nominated by Jan Polizzi. Ms. Rohrbach is founder and director of Nurses for Newborns, a nurse home-visiting agency providing services to teen moms, the mentally or physically challenged, infants that are sick, and general population families.
MONA members also passed numerous bylaw changes at the Assembly and held forums on nursing and legislative issues of importance to the members.
