CE Approver Unit
The MONA CE Approver Unit is administratively and operationally responsible for coordinating all aspects of the peer review approval process of continuing nursing education activities and approved providers for the Association. MONA accepts applications for approval from providers whose headquarters are located within the State of Missouri, or, in another state, if that state nurses association is not accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA). The MONA CE Approver Unit has been operational since 1978. It was accredited at that time by the American Nurses Association and has maintained accreditation as an approver of continuing nursing education.

The goals of the CE Approver Unit are updated during each biennium, and support the MONA Board of Director’s Strategic Plan. Progress of the goals is evaluated annually by the Committee to ensure completion within the biennium. The CE Approver Unit goals for the 2005-2007 biennium are to:
  • Implement a peer review process utilizing the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation criteria for approval of nursing continuing education activities,
  • Provide a mechanism for verification of quality for CNE programs,
  • Encourage nurses to maintain and improve knowledge and skills of professional practice; and,
  • Foster availability and accessibility of CE programs throughout the state.
