Missouri Nurses Association Announces Appointment of New Chief Executive Officer

(Jefferson City, Missouri) The Missouri Nurses Association (MONA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Kliethermes, APRN, BC, FNP as chief executive officer. Kliethermes will begin the role August 27, 2007, having most recently served as education manager at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. Certified as a family nurse practitioner and having earned a post-masters degree concentrated in leadership in nursing and health care systems, Kliethermes brings diverse experience in advance nursing practice and primary care, leadership, nursing education, and school and community-based health care. In addition to providing overall leadership for MONA staff, programs and services, Kliethermes will serve as a primary spokesperson for the organization and registered professional nursing in the state. Lisa DeSha, interim executive director during the past eleven (11) months, was previously appointed director of association operations by the Board of Directors, and will join Kliethermes in providing leadership for the daily administrative operations of the Association, including finance and a broad range of support services.
Kliethermes joins the organization’s staff approximately one month before the 83rd Biennial Convention − to be held in Branson, Missouri September 28 − 30, 2007 − providing a significant opportunity to meet and engage with members and others from around the state.
MONA, a one-hundred year old association, is the only full-service professional organization representing Missouri’s 75,000+ RNs, and is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association (ANA). Its mission is to protect and enhance registered professional nursing practice in all environments to assure quality, affordable and accessible health care for people in Missouri.
Key program areas of the Association include legislation and governmental affairs, workforce advocacy, economic & general welfare, accreditation and provision of continuing nursing education, professional development and supporting nursing practice and research.
